Renewable oil?

Dear Republic:

Re: Supposing they can't secure oil, issue 89.

While there are good reasons to reduce gasoline use, running out of "fossil fuels" isn't one of them if this linked article and others I have read are right. "Fossil fuels" may actually be of inorganic origin.

Excellent newspaper you're publishing, by the way.

--Fred Hamilton, Vancouver

Lock 'im up

Dear Republic:

I read with interest your rhetoric on Svend Robinson's "ring theft caper." The bottom line is: he is a thief and should be treated as such. He is not above the law and should be prosecuted as any other criminal should be.

--Bryan K Christensen, Winfield BC
