Gallup Poll: What are the top faults of wives?

Ten long years haven’t changed what men and women think about the faults of wives.

Back in 1946, nagging was the number one complaint against the “better half.” It’s in first place today. Then as now, it’s the top criticism for wives as given by both men and women. One change however is that criticism of wives spending too much time away from home has moved up from third to second place.

The question: “What do you think are the chief faults wives have?” Nationally, this is the average opinion:

Nagging . . . 13%

Too much social life; not enough time spent at home . . . 10%

Spend too much money: not economical enough . . . 9%

Gossiping; too much to say . . . 8%

Selfish; lazy, vain . . . 8%

Infidelity . . . 2%

Jealous . . . 1%

Irresponsible . . . 1%
